OBITUARY – The Holly
Leaf (April 66)

Mr. Cyril Townsend who
died in April 65 served the Sheffield Pupil Teacher Centre from 1924 to
1965.
Mr.
Cyril Townsend died on April 1965 after a short illness, having served
the school, as a laboratory assistant, for over 30 years. Most of this
time, after a brief period with the “peripatetic science classes”, he worked
in the old building. He helped with the transfer out of apparatus in 1964,
and worked for just over a year in the new school.
He
was known as “Tom” to many generations of schoolboys, whom he entertained
with conjuring tricks, as well as helping with their apparatus.
The
funeral was attended by the Headmaster, representatives of the staff and
pupils, Mr. Callister and Mr. and Mrs. Woodhouse. Our sympathy is extended
to his sister, Mrs. Ledger.
Mr.
Ralph Hum.
