OBITUARY – The Holly Leaf

Miss Marianne Tate who died
aged 77 on February 22nd. 1966was a member of staff at the Sheffield Pupil
Teacher Centre from 1920 to 1948.
With
sadness those who knew Miss Tate, colleagues and pupils alike, learned
of her death on February 22nd. at the age of seventy-seven years.
Miss
Tate played a great part in moulding the Pupil Teacher Centre, later to
become the City Grammar School. She was a teacher in it from 1920 to 1948.
Her
outstanding devotion to her calling as a teacher, her integrity and her
quiet influence for good on her pupils will leave a lasting memory.
Miss
Tate spent her retirement in Bridlington and Scarborough. Though her health
was frail at times she bravely overcame her difficulties.
Her
life was an example to all who came under her care.
