Mr. XXX was a pupil of the City Grammar School, Sheffield, during the last three years of my tenure of the Headmastership. He had previously obtained a good School Certificate and he spent those years in the Sixth Form, studying principally Mathematics & Sciences. He made good progress, obtained a Higher School Certificate & subsequently took a University Course, the result of which he has doubtless supplied.
I remember him well as a lad of good appearance & address with a cheerful & buoyant disposition, not easily daunted by difficulties and invariably neat & orderly in his work.
I believe him to be of irreproachable character with a degree of independence of outlook and capable of steady, determined & persistent effort.
